Using the Find Tool with the Tax Help Site

The Tax Help Site is arranged by zip code. However, you may have a customer who is looking for help by a certain day. For example, you have a customer who can only receive assistance on a Wednesday. How can we quickly scan the list in order to find the places that assist on Wednesday?

Find What You Are Looking For

Using the Find tool can greatly increase efficiency when searching the Web. For example, if you are performing a search for "french revolution aristocracy", you will receive numerouse results. These results will probably be fairly lengthy. If your interest is only in the section of the result that mentions aristocracy, you do not have to scan the entire document. Let the computer do that for you. It is a lot faster!

Click on Edit>Find on the Menu bar. Type the word you are wanting to find and click Find Next. There you go!

This also works with PDFs and Word documents.

Word: Find Replace

Have you ever had a customer who needed to change a word or phrase to another word or phrase in a document? The only problem is that they need to change the word or phrase 200 times! For example, a customer has written a 900 page book about dogs. Unfortunately, they meant the book to be about cats. Now they need to change the word “dog” to the word “cat” on just about every page. Luckily, there is an easy way to do this.

  1. Click on EDIT on the Menu Bar
  2. Select FIND. A dialog box will appear.
  3. In the space provided (marked “Find What”), type in the word or phrase you want to change. (In our example “dog.”)
  4. Next, click on the Replace tab near the top of the dialog box. A new line will appear (marked “Replace With”) that will allow you to type in the new word or phrase. (In our example “cat.”)
  5. Now click on the Replace All button at the bottom of the screen

That’s it! All the “dogs” are now “cats.”
